Directions:
- Carefully remove the backs from the paper mache picture frames; these are now pieces to use in the building of your train.
- Using a sharp knife, cut off top of the lighthouse and cut a hole on the top of the mailbox to fit the light house in (lighthouse turned upside down) and glue in place.
- Remove the flag from the mailbox.
- Carefully round the front two corners of your Styrofoam.
- Paint all the paper mache pieces (except the smallest box, paint your choice of color), your wooden picture frames and Styrofoam base Raw Siena.
- Apply a couple coats. Paint all your wheels White.
- Cut your wood trim to fit around the top of the largest box and also around one of the backs from the picture frames and paint white also.
- Now to assemble (refer to pictures for more details), glue the wooden picture frames to the inside of the paper mache to make the opening smaller.
- Using the frames and the backs create the cab of the engine, glue the mailbox to the cab and center and glue the entire piece onto the Styrofoam base.
- Cut your dowel rods to length to fit the width of the styro base plus approx an inch to allow for the wheels and glue in place.
- Glue your wood trim to the top of the engine and the box car.
- Using the picture as a guide, decorate your train with recommended embellishments including your gingerbread conductors.
- Add a bow to the small box and lights to your tree to be placed in the box car.
- Lastly, applying mod podge to the entire train or just select areas, add the diamond dust to give a sugary feel to your creation.
